Douglas Crockford , author of "Javascript: The Good Parts" from O'Reilly Media - is speaking TODAY (Friday) at MIT at 12:45 in room G449 of the Patil/ Kiva Seminar Room in the Stata center (building closest to Vassar Street.) - this is the same building we met for the Sept 8th meeting. I have his book, and can vouch for it's excellence!

So, if you can get out for ONE HOUR come and listen in!

Cost: none
TIME:Refreshments: 12:45
Talk: 1: 00 PM to 2pm

Street map from this (older) conference page http://tr.im/yUlA
Room map for G449 : (the BIG ROUND room shown, leftish:) Stata Center Gates 4 (4th floor)

As you know, Douglas Crockford is author of "Javascript: The Good Parts",
he had a big part in JSON Data Interchange format. His talk will be about
"Javascript: The Good Parts.", a bit about the history, why it had a bad rap, and has discovered a good solid core to Javascript - he'll talk about some of these that makes Javascript so darn good.

part of the CSAIL at MIT Yahoo/MIT EECS HCI-IR Seminar Series
posted inside MIT "for more info contact Rob Miller" - attendance is Open (no ID required etc.), free.

Javascript: The Good Parts http://oreilly.com/catalog/9780596517748/

"Most programming languages contain good and bad parts, but JavaScript has more than its share of the bad, having been developed and released in a hurry before it could be refined. Douglas scrapes away these bad features to reveal a subset of JavaScript that's more reliable, readable, and maintainable than the language as a whole-a subset you can use to create truly extensible and efficient code."

He also has some videos up on YouTube.
