Meeting review

Written By: FreeTim

Our very first WebOSBoston meeting was a great success, with 9 persons attending. It was a nice, loosely structured informal meeting that was VERY productive. Thank you ALL who attended, we had a great discussion.  After this, Eric Marthinsen of Agile Commerce came and spoke about recent development findings and hurdles and general programming practices. We looked at using the emulator, Ruby, scoping of functions and 'this' within a function, playing audio sounds from within a game, custom style sheet elements, log levels and much more. We were glad to have him come!!
BE SURE to join our mailing list to be notified of upcoming meetings , and in the event of last minute room changes you'll be in the know. Thank you for MIT for donating unused meeting space, and all who helped in planning and signs, etc.

Mark Your Calendars… Sept. 28th Meeting

Written By: Joseph Crawford

When we first started the WebOS Boston user group we did not know that Michael Prenez-Isbell had also started to organize a group. We are going to be holding a combined user group meeting on September 28th at the Boston Public Library. The meeting will be held from 7pm - 9pm and will be held in the Mezzanine Conference Room. You can find out more about Michael's meeting by visiting the MeetUp page.

Tim has kindly posted the directions to the Boston Public Library and explains how to find the room.

The speaker at the meeting will be...

ERIC MARTHINSEN of Agile Commerce who happens to be local to the Boston area! Eric and his team created FLIGHTVIEW, an airplane flight status tracker downloadable from the App Catalog! Eric will be giving us an overview of his experience creating the App and getting it into the App Catalog; a demo of FlightView; and a discussion of the challenges facing a JavaScript webpage developer transitioning to webOS and Mojo.

Welcome to WebOS Boston

Written By: Joseph Crawford

I wanted to take a minute to welcome you to WebOS Boston!  We are working on getting the site up and running.  We will need to find a designer who can donate some time to create a custom Wordpress theme for us so if you know of any let us know.  We are still in the process of getting things going but in the near future we will have regularly set meetings that will happen once or twice a month.  We will have a mailing list, wiki and this site.

If you have any comments or would like to get involved with WebOS Boston please contact us and let us know.
